The Irish Institute of Pharmacy (IIOP) is responsible for the commissioning of required education and training programmes in line with national policy and evolving healthcare needs.
For each year of operation the Institute will have a defined set of programmes that are to be delivered. Programmes will vary in complexity and scope and will be both face-to-face and on-line in their delivery, with a number of programmes that required a blended approach of both workshop/classroom and eLearning delivery.
These programmes will be procured in line with the IIOP’s procurement policy and processes.
To assure the quality of these programmes, they are then subject to accreditation in accordance with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) accreditation standards and the criteria determined by the IIOP.
Please note that as the CPD model for pharmacists in Ireland is self-directed, pharmacists are free to undertake appropriate learning relevant to their own practice i.e. courses which have not been accredited by the IIOP may also be undertaken by pharmacists as part of their CPD. Therefore the IIOP currently only accredits programmes which it has commissioned.
