Why do I need to know about CPR training?

As per Section SI449/2015 ( SI 449 of 2015 ) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training is mandatory for all pharmacists wishing to supply and administer certain medicines to both adults and children in an emergency situation, as well as specific vaccines.  To assist pharmacists who wish to source appropriate training courses, which meet the requirements, information has been provided below.

Which CPR course should I do?

Please note only the following CPR courses have been identified by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI – the Pharmacy Regulator) as being suitable to meet pharmacists’ training requirements in line with SI 449/2015:
  • Cardiac First Response Community Level PHECC, Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council
  • Heartsaver® CPR AED, AHA
